Privacy Policy

JamCams.co.uk collects zero personal data. Here's exactly how the site works.

Short version: JamCams.co.uk does not collect, store or process any personal data on our servers. Your camera preferences (saved cameras, location) are stored only on your own device and never leave it.

1Overview

JamCams.co.uk ("we", "the site") is a free, publicly accessible traffic information website. We display live camera feeds and road data from Transport for London's (TfL) Open Data API. This policy explains what data the site uses and how.

This policy was last updated: February 2026. We are not required to be registered with a data regulator as we do not process personal data.

2Data We Collect

We do not collect names, email addresses, IP addresses, device identifiers, or any information that could identify you personally. There are no user accounts, no sign-ups, and no forms that submit data to our servers.

The only "data" involved in using this site:

3Local Storage (Browser)

We use your browser's localStorage (not cookies) to remember your preferences. This data lives only on your device and is never sent to any server.

KeyWhat it storesHow to clear
jc_favsIDs of cameras you've saved as favouritesBrowser settings → Clear site data
jc_loc_grantedWhether you've allowed location sortingBrowser settings → Clear site data
jc_perm_dismissedWhether you've dismissed the location promptBrowser settings → Clear site data
jc_cookieWhether you've acknowledged this noticeBrowser settings → Clear site data

You can clear all of the above at any time via your browser's settings (Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data → Cookies and site data).

4TfL Data & Camera Feeds

All camera images and video feeds are sourced from Transport for London's Open Data API. When you view a camera, your browser connects directly to TfL's servers to retrieve the image or video stream.

TfL's own privacy policy applies to this connection. We have no control over, and do not receive, any data from this exchange. TfL's privacy policy is available at tfl.gov.uk.

Camera images are updated by TfL approximately every 5 minutes. Feed availability is controlled entirely by TfL.

5Third-Party Services

The site uses the following third-party services to function. Each has its own privacy policy.

We may in future use third-party advertising services to support the cost of running this free website. If we do, this policy will be updated to reflect that. Any such service will use industry-standard opt-out mechanisms.

6Cookies & Tracking

JamCams.co.uk itself sets no cookies. We use localStorage (see Section 3) which is different from cookies and is not sent with HTTP requests.

Third-party services listed in Section 5 may set cookies in your browser according to their own policies. These are standard technical cookies (e.g. CDN session cookies) and not tracking or advertising cookies set by us.

We do not use any analytics, tracking pixels, session recording or behavioural profiling tools.

7Your Rights

Because we do not hold any personal data about you, most data protection rights (access, rectification, erasure) can be fully exercised by you yourself — simply clear your browser's localStorage as described in Section 3.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal data, please contact us and we will investigate promptly.

8Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy — for example if we add advertising or analytics — we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this section and notify users via a banner on the site.

9Contact

For any privacy-related questions, please use our contact page. We aim to respond within 5 working days.

Note: For questions about the camera feeds themselves, road disruption data or TfL services, please contact Transport for London directly.
